What Does The New Rich Mean, Anyway?
Posted on Jun.15, 2009, under Goals, New Rich Thoughts
Life doesn’t have to be so damn hard. It really doesn’t. Most people, have spent too much time convincing
themselves that life has to be hard, working 9-5 in the office in exchange for (sometimes) relaxing weekends and the occasional keep-it-short-or-get-fired vacation.
People don’t want to be millionaires - they want to experience what they believe only millions can buy.
The fantasy is not $1,000,000. The fantasy is the lifestyle of complete freedom it supposedly allows.
The New Rich is sub-culture of people. People who freed themselfs from the limits of time and mobility. Those people can choose where they want to be in the world and what they want to do. They don’t have to be rich with cash! Because the currency of The New Rich is time and mobility.
And this is where I see myself. I am already on my path to create the lifestyle I desire. Right now, I can be anywhere and you won’t even know, I can be on the beach in Hawaii, I can be drinking coffee at Starbucks in Manhattan or traveling to a distant village in India. Hail to the cellular internet!
My final goal in this path is having passive income that will give me all the time, mobility and freedom I need. I want to travel the world all my life. I want to see places, meet people, do stuff and of course, help others and contribute back to the world.
Of course I aim high, but if this passive income will be $2000 a month and this will give me the freedom I want, it will be enough for me!
I invite you all to join The New Rich
By the way, the concept of The New Rich is borrowed from the book The 4-Hour Work Week by Timothy Ferriss, really great book.

Well I do find time to work, the days here are very short and its sunset on half past 5 or so, and then we prepare dinner, eat, and I have time to work until 1am usually, when I’m too tired and go to sleep.
As you said in the post, I could be anywhere in the world and still work, and like you, I aim high, but only need 2K$ to maintain very good life style, who said hostels suck? I really like hostels in NZ, warm feeling and many ppl sharing their experience, of course that in Thailand later this year I will stay in guest houses which are entirely different.
