Who am I? Why are you here?
Posted on Nov.29, 2008, under New Rich Thoughts
I have just quit my job.
Was my boss an angry asshole? Not at all. He was one of the greatest bosses I ever had. Was my workplace a cubicle-florescent-LCD habitat for programmers? Not at all. It was a nice studio with music and sunlight. Was my job boring? Nope. I programmed flash games and interactive websites.
So why did I quit my job?
Because I had a dream…
In my dream I was free from the rat race, working for myself, whenever I want, where I want and the way I want. Or better than that - I travel the world with my girlfriend, every now and then logging in to my laptop to check that everything is okay and my money is still working for me.
So many times in life we want to do something and we are afraid. Or we are just waiting for that perfect moment, we are waiting for all the lights to become green: “I don’t have enough money”, “I don’t know what I will do”, “I am afraid of my wife”, “I have nice paycheck”… well, let me tell you something - all the lights will never be green. If you will wait too much, you will find yourself working in the office 8 to 5 (at best) to the rest of your life.
So I quit my job and started walking the path to join the New Rich.
I believe you may have the same thoughts or… you are already in the same path as me.
In my blog I would like to share with you my insights my experiences. Although this post was little philosophical, they won’t all be. I will also share with you real practical information, advices and techniques that I will discover along the way.
Of course you are most welcome to share too.
I welcome you and hope you will enjoy the New Rich Blog!
Yours,
The New Rich

Congratulations on the new blog and on quitting your day job.
You were using the term “the new rich”. Does that mean you read Tim Ferriss’ 4-Hour Workweek?
On a more administrative issue: It’s really hard to read a white-on-black blog. And the lack of a “print version” button makes it hard to print posts.
Good luck!

Good luck on your new path, we all want to be in that position that you are at, and I personally took some steps and I’m getting closer to it, I will accompany you in your new path
Best of wishes,
Tom

Thank you both for the greetings!
Dave, about the “New Rich” term: I am reading The 4-Hour Work Week right now. I like this term very much, Although, I am not sure Tim Ferriss made up this term by himself. I am sure I have seen it before.
As for the design, I will try other design as well and see what happens.
Tom, welcome! I wish you good luck joining this challenging path!

Hey new rich, Congratulations on the decision and on your transparency to everyone. I see your freedom will come soon
I’d like to add my experience as I did a similar move last year. Last year I worked in a hi-tech job that paid well with a car, insurances and lots of trips. I was sent everywhere in the world (vegas, amsterdam, england, findland and more..)
It was a dream job, and as all dream jobs are they are fun and I could do whatever I want when I worked and had so much pleasure..
I quit that job, It wasn’t for me, as much as I enjoyed I still had the need to wake up every morning and work for that same fun job. Go to work, do stuff, answer to phones of people asking me questions and I found myself working and working good and succeeding and doing fabulous stuff to the company and getting lots of credit inside, and the salary stays the same and i’m still commited to the job and have more work because more people know my skills and manage lots of stuff and create a great name for my company and lots of money.. So I got a raise eventually of 15%.
If I was working alone with those projects and putting the same energy I would have got 200% raise, maybe more, maybe less.
I want to work for myself, I changed, I quit the job, I’m half broke now but I know it will change, I will succeed.
I currently work on two projects because I don’t work in a regular work. One is the “Walk About Love” and the second is “Indomite”. Just from the names you can see these projects are with passion and fun.
I need to warn you about this way of life, It’s not easy, You need to put in lots of energy, way more than the energy you put in your work for someone else, You will get into conflicts and problems you will need to solve and you will have the most fun time of your life.
NewRich, May your dreams come true.

Hi Rotem
First of all congratulations that you finally becoming free!
I’m on the same path as you are, I’m currently work in a hi-tech company
And on my spare time working to become an affiliate marketer…
I set my self a goal to leave my JOB in 12 month and to become a full-time
Affiliate marketer.
I have 3 questions for you, if you will
The first is how much time did you have to invest before you reached your goal?
How much time it took you?, I’m working as hard as I can every time I have
but I feel it’s just progressing so slowly, as you can probably know the
hi-tech industry can be very demanding
How did you succeeded parallel to your day job? What I’m really asking is
How did you do it from the aspect of time management?
Did you take a course or something or study this all by yourself?
Thanks
Yigal

Rotem! hi friend
I know you are in the right direction…
Yigal, nice to see you in my blog
I didn’t know that you still work in your day-job. Why is that? As far as I know, you make good money from affiliate marketing. Isn’t the time you work in your job can be used to leverage your revenue even more?

Just started a blog to interview people like you. It’s much easier than actually walking down the path. So is it possible to set up a Skype interview with you?
Thanks,
Lis
